Clean Underpants
My mom used to tell me to always wear clean underpants when I went out, in case I got into an accident I wouldn’t be embarrassed.
I always countered they’d be, um a mess if I DID get into an accident and therefore was pointless.
But actually I did get her point: look presentable, you never know who you are going to run into.
I agree and it’s easier to than you think to look decent and presentable.
We’ve been watching a lot of TLC’s “What Not To Wear” lately and I see how easy it is to let yourself look sloppy and careless. “I’m comfy” is the cry most women utter when asked about there clothes.
I get that. I like to be comfy too, especially when I’m sick. But the other night after I put my sick son to bed and checked on my equally sick husband, I realized we were out of Nyquil and there wasn’t anyway I was attempting sleep without it!
Needless to say, I had been in my “comfies” all day and was headed out the door when I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror.
It wasn’t horrible, but my saggy bottom, spotty sweats might not be really street ready, and who would I run into at 8:30 at night anyway?
So I had a thought – “What if I did a quick change, into something I knew was comfortable, combed my hair and slipped on a cap?”
I did and you know what? I actually felt a little better because I was less self conscious at the market.
It took me less than five minutes to do the “before” and “after” looks and take the photos. Here’s what I did: Switched sweats to my loose-fit jeans, slicked on my Laura Marcier hydrating lip tint in berry, ran a comb through my hair and slapped on a baseball cap (to hide the huge bags under my eyes!) and voila – not bad I think:
